Windmill Microlending featured at Canadian Immigration Summit

October 5, 2021

The Canadian Immigration Summit’s purpose is to explore how Canada can respond proactively to emerging immigration issues in a rapidly changing world.

Paula Calderon, Windmill’s National Director of Client Success, spoke about our program and results at this year’s Canadian Immigration Summit, organized by The Conference Board of Canada and held in Ottawa on May 8 and 9, 2019. Immigration is an essential driver in Canada, and the Summit looked at different ways in which the country can respond proactively to immigration issues.

During the session ‘From Pre-Arrival to Employment,’ panellists spoke about practices that have been directed at improving the labour market outcomes of newcomers. Windmill showcased our work on this front, and our program’s results, especially how microloans offered to internationally-trained immigrants have significantly increased their incomes and boosted their prospects of getting a job in their field.
