Do you want to make a difference in the life of other skilled immigrants and share your experience with them? If so, why not volunteer as a mentor with Windmill’s Mentorship Program?

Aside from providing affordable loans to internationally-educated professionals, Windmill supports them through our Mentorship Program. Through a mentor match, clients have the opportunity to connect with a fellow professional in their field and work together to set personal goals and objectives, ask questions and be supported in their professional journey.

Mentees benefit from coaching, discovering career paths and setting goals. Mentors help mentees develop an understanding of the Canadian workplace culture and etiquette and develop a strategy and plan for future career goals.

Throughout their journey, Windmill supports and guides mentors to ensure a successful relationship. We provide mentors with:

  • A roadmap with milestones that will guide participants through the program.
  • Recommendations on meeting frequency and topics to be discussed.
  • Tips for a successful mentorship.
  • Additional resources such as articles and videos to gain insight on how to support their mentees.

The mentorship program is a six-month relationship with a minimum of four mentee-mentor meetings. We expect mentors to commit to working with their mentees for at least two hours a month for the duration of the program. Meetings are flexible in terms of frequency and contact methods - in person, over the phone or via Zoom. Upon completion of the Mentorship Program, mentors receive a letter of recognition and certificate.

We are currently looking for professionals working in a variety of fields to participate as mentors. Skill-sets required range from doctors, pharmacists, nurses, engineers, accountants, software developers, human resources professions, facility managers and sales professionals.

As a mentor, you have the potential to change a skilled immigrant’s life, develop strong leadership skills and enhance your resume. Sign up to become a mentor and experience how rewarding it is to help someone else achieve success.
